Okay, you and your family need shelter tonight.

FIRST, NO MATTER WHAT, GET ON THE SHELTER WAITING LIST
CALL CONNECTING POINT 415-442-5134 or 1-888-811-7233
Telephone initial intake hours for clients: Mon to Fri 9AM to 5PM
Drop-in hours for clients: Mon 9am-12pm, Wed 10:30am-12pm, and Fri 9am-12pm

Connecting Point is San Francisco’s intake center for homeless families. When you call, an intake worker will take down your basic information, set up an appointment for you to come in and put you on the waiting list for long-term shelter. The intake worker also assesses your crisis situation, providing information and referrals to you as needed. As soon as you are on the waiting list, you are require to check-in every Wednesday after 10:30am.

Many families have negative ideas about shelter, regardless of your feeling, if you are not sure how long you and your family may be homeless, get on the waiting list. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS LONG TERM SHELTER. Shelter placement can take up to two to three months or up to six months. You might be considered a priority, talk with your Connecting Point counselor and he/she could give you more information about documentation required and eligibility for prioritization. Medical, mental health, pregnancy, CPS will be assessed for priority status on a case by case basis. Undocumented alien is not an issue. For a description of the shelters, click here.

TO QUALIFY: Must have physical and legal custody of a child under 18 years of age or pregnant. If you are pregnant and not in your third trimester, still sign up. You are eligible to be in the connecting point waiting list and receive services but not for shelter placement. By the time you are 7 months you'll be eligible for shelter placement. If you are high risk you will have to be at least 26th weeks to be eligible for shelter placement; also, you will be considered a priority for shelter placement if you are in your 9th month (regular/non-risk pregnancy).
